Frequently Asked Questions
How much are your puppies?
$3,250 including state sales tax (required)
What are the steps to puppy adoption?
Reach out to me via email, and tell me about yourself. Include who the puppy would live with, work schedules and activity levels/ preferences. Have you adopted a puppy before? Do you have other pets? Do you have a yard? Answering questions like this will help me get to know you and determine if we are a fit for puppy adoption. I do not respond to emails that give no details about the adopting family.
After your email/application is reviewed, and accepted, you will have the opportunity to place a $500 deposit to hold your place for the litter.
Do I get to choose my puppy?
Yes, adopting families get to choose from the litter in the order their deposit is received. The first deposit received gets 1st choice for the litter, etc.
What kinds of dog toys should I buy?
I prefer Nylabones and Kong brand toys. Rope toys are fun also.
Do you ship puppies?
No. You will have to make arrangements to come to the central coast of California to pick up your puppy. In cases of hardship, we can drive 1-2 hours in order to meet you. This is on a case-by-case basis.
Do you have any puppies available now?
Available puppies or litter lists with openings will be on the website "available puppies" page. Check there, then send an email. Follow @cielodoodle on instagram for the latest in puppy photos and updates! I am a small breeder, raising one litter at a time. Your puppy will be getting the best care available, including early neurological stimulation, one-on-one time with lots of new experiences, cuddling, socialization and careful attention until going to your home.
When will the litter of puppies be born, and when will they get to go home?
Just like human babies, dog mamas and puppies have their own timing, and I won't know the date when your puppy can go home until it is born.
Questions about Labradoodles?
Check the ALAA website, alaa-labradoodles.com for general information. Have a question for me? Email cielodoodles@gmail.com
When can the puppies go home?
Puppies go to their new homes at 8 weeks.
Will my puppy be crate trained?
Litters have access to a large crate after leaving the whelping pen. They often get treats the crate, with the option to go in and out, giving them a positive impression from their earliest weeks of development. Our little puppies are not individually crate-trained.
How much will the puppy weigh when it goes home?
Most puppies will be 8-10 lbs.
How much will my puppy weigh as an adult?
Labradoodles generally are as follows:
Miniature: F 20- 30 lbs, M 25-35 lbs
Mediums: F 30-40lbs, M 35-45 lbs
Standards: F 45-65lbs, M 50-70 lbs
What do I bring when picking up my puppy?
You will get an email explaining exactly what you will need to bring with you the day you pick up your puppy.
Can I visit you and meet your dogs?
Certainly! You can meet my dogs and me by appointment. I'm happy to share our breeding program. However, when we have puppies we don't allow visitors to meet them unless they have a deposit on file for that litter. This allows us to protect our little ones and keeps our property clean from potential diseases and things that can make puppies unwell.
What if I can't get the puppy I want from the litter - gender, color, etc?
We try our best to make sure that each family gets the puppy that fits best with their desires. Sometimes a deposit is returned so that the buyer can find the right puppy elsewhere if we don't have the right option.
What should I do to get ready to adopt a puppy?
GREAT question!! I like books such as THE PUPPY PRIMER by Patricia McConnell as well as THE OTHER END OF THE LEASH. The Puppy Primer book is available on Amazon. There are loads of resources online, adopt-a-pet, click on Adoption Info, then click Adopting a Dog. Under this section is a PDF Puppy Manual to read or print.
